A cantilever bridge is a fixed bridge that is attached to adjacent teeth only on one end, whereas a conventional bridge is attached to teeth on both ends. Just like any bridge, a cantilever bridge is used to replace missing teeth. However the mechanical charge might stress that one or more adjacent teeth on one end and make the bridge fail.

Can a cantilever bridge be used to replace a lower wisdom tooth ?
Thank you.
I’m looking for this.

Hello Gregg,
Yes it can. Although this is very rarely done. The first concern is that a cantilever bridge is less stable than a regular bridge or a dental implant because of high forces in the molars area. Also, the second concern is that, if you have a missing wisdom tooth, we rarely recommend to replace it if you have your 2 other molars still in place.
