Micrognathia, or micrognathism, is a condition where the upper, lower, or both jaws are not developped and are smaller in size. It can be a problem for infants because having a smaller mouth is harder to feed. The condition however corrects itself during puberty where the jaws increase in size. Micrognathia can cause malocclusion because the size of the teeth is bigger than the space they have on the jaws.
