Gingival hyperplasia is a term used to describe an abnormal enlargement in size of the gums. This enlargement may be generated by a multitude of causes: gingivitis, side effects of some drugs, systemic changes (pregnancy, leukemia, vitamin C deficiency), or oral habits as for example mouth breathing.
