In dentistry, resorption refers to the destruction of tooth material, either from the inside or the outside of a tooth. Internal resoption can occur from inside the pulp chamber or within a canal, and may require root canal therapy. External resorption usually occurs around the root, and if the main cause is not detected, the tooth may need to be extracted.
